Thank you so much for the fantastic write-up + photos of the day of the portage. Sea kayak journalism at its best.
Looks like the canal can be built and finished with the right one or two pieces of heavy machinery? Maybe I can do this myself, and get funding from MSR. In exchange, the canal could be named "Canale Hubba-Hubba"?
Fair winds and congrats for tackling more than 3/5ths of your trip!

Welcome!
This austral summer, from December 1, 2010 to April 1, 2011, Becky and Nick will be paddling sea kayaks from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales along the patagonian coast of Chile. This 1200 mile journey will take them through protected fjords and open coast, past tidewater glaciers and into isolated fishing villages. We created this blog in hopes that it would keep us better connected with our family and loved ones while on the journey. Posts will only be as frequent as we have internet access, but we invite you to follow along!
