Thank you so much for the fantastic write-up + photos of the day of the portage. Sea kayak journalism at its best.
Looks like the canal can be built and finished with the right one or two pieces of heavy machinery? Maybe I can do this myself, and get funding from MSR. In exchange, the canal could be named "Canale Hubba-Hubba"?
